Dr. Schaad, (03.06.1938) studied chemical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). In 1969 he graduated as doctor of natural sciences, became secretary of the National Research Council and head of the division Biology and Medicine of the Swiss National Science Foundation, Berne, after having received the Award of the German Society for Responsibility in Science and Technology (1968) and the Silver Medal of ETHZ for his outstanding thesis. In 1973 Dr. Schaad was elected Director of the new Swiss Hospital Institute (Aarau) by the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors, became a board member of the International Hospital Association (London) and Temporary Adviser of WHO in 1978, until he entered the chemical industry (CIBA-GEIGY Basle), in 1981. During eight years he was Regional Director of Pharma International, Vice-President Direct Business. He also headed the executive board of a chemical production joint venture with Pliva, Zagreb. In China he co-chaired several years a pharma production joint venture with Beijing General Pharmaceutical (now Beijing Novartis Pharma Ltd.). In recognition of his contributions to good relations he was named Honorary Adviser of Beijing Medical University (BMU). 1990 – 1992 Dr. Schaad spent a challenging period in transitional Russia as corporate representative of CIBA-GEIGY organizing its changing business infra-structure in the new independent states. During this period he was lecturer at Plekhanov Institute for Political Economy and at the International Business School of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Since 1993 Dr. Schaad heads the Zurich based consultancy INTERMAN CONSULTING AG advising international companies in healthcare and life science informatics as well as, periodically, the Russian Ministry of Science and Technology and the Russian Federal Property Fund.

In 2001 Dr. Schaad additionally resumed his activity as professor at the Institute for Business Studies, Moscow (IBS-M) of the National Academy of Economy. He is a board member of several bilateral chambers of commerce in Switzerland.
