After studying engineering, worked for the first 10 years of his career as a management consultant in Germany and then in New York, USA.
After returning from Germany in 1969, he founded the portfolio management company FIDUKA Depotverwaltung together with stock market expert André Kostolany. Today this is one of the oldest fund and portfolio management companies in Germany.
FIDUKA manages major securities portfolios for both private and institutional investors, as well as one German mutual fund. Heller is also the chief manager of four funds issued by the PMG Fonds Management AG, Zurich, which invest globally in both stocks and bonds: the Pro Fonds Premium (an international equity fund), Pro Fonds Global (a balanced fund), Pro Fonds Emerging Markets (a worldwide equity fund investing in the emerging markets) and Pro Fonds Inter-Bond (an international bond fund).
In 1974, together with André Kostolany, he founded the investment seminar organization Kostolany Börsenseminare, which has meanwhile been active in teaching the basics of the stock market and of investment psychology to some thousands of participants.
Heller is a member of the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA).
At the end of 1994 the second edition of his book, entitled „The Wealth Revolution Strategies for Businessmen and Investors in the 1990s“ was published by the ECON Verlag.
